Acne Scars and Scarring

Acne Scar Treatment and scar treatments are designed to target and minimise the visible marks left behind after acne or skin trauma has healed, including pigmentation, redness, uneven texture, and deep scarring. Acne scars and scarring often linger much longer than the original injury, affecting your skin’s overall tone, texture and your confidence. We offer personalised, professional treatments that work to smooth the skin, even out discolouration, and boost collagen production to reduce the appearance of scarring over time. Whether you’re dealing with shallow marks, deeper pitted scars, or dark post-inflammatory pigmentation, we will tailor a treatment plan that suits your skin and goals. Rather than covering up the problem, our approach supports your skin’s natural healing and renewal. With consistency, care, and the appropriate techniques, we can significantly improve the look and feel of your skin and help you feel more confident in your skin.

How Does It Work?

Acne scar and scar treatments work by stimulating collagen production, resurfacing the skin and fading pigmentation. Depending on your skin type and scar type, we may use a combination of skin needling (microneedling), encouraging skin regeneration and improving texture. Chemical peels to exfoliate the skin and fade post-acne pigmentation. LED light therapy to calm inflammation and support skin healing.

Each treatment is carefully chosen to match your skin’s condition and sensitivity. During your initial consulation, we will assess the depth and type of scarring and recommend a course of treatments, typically spaced a few weeks apart.

At home care is just as important. We will guide you on personalised skincare routine to support healing, reduce inflammation and prevent new breakouts.

Who Is It For?

Acne Scar Treatment is ideal for anyone who has recovered from active acne or skin trauma but is left with pitted or textured scars, flat or raised scars, red or brown marks (post-inflammatory pigmentation), uneven skin tone or rough skin texture.

It’s suitable for most skin types, including sensitive and combination skin. We will always go through a comprehensive consultation to ensure your skin is ready for treatment and to create a treatment plan that fits your individual needs.

Who should avoid it?
Some treatments may not be suitable if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or currently using certain medications like Roaccutane. If you have active breakouts or recent injury, we may need to treat this first before addressing scarring. We will guide you through each step so you know exactly where to start.

What to Expect

Your appointment will begin with a personalised skin consultation. We will talk through your skin history, concerns, and goals, and assess the type of scarring you have. Based on that, we will recommend the most effective treatment method or combination.

The treatment itself depends on the agreed treatment plan between client and practitioner. Skin needling, for example, involves tiny micro-injuries to the skin to boost collagen, it may feel a little prickly but is generally well tolerated. Chemical peels may cause light tingling and some flaking a few days later. LED therapy is completely pain free and soothing.

Sessions typically take 30 to 45 minutes and you may experience some mild redness or sensitivity afterwards, depending on the treatment. You will be given detailed aftercare instructions, which usually include avoiding heat, sweating, and active products for 24–72 hours, along with sun protection.

A course of 3–6 treatments is usually recommended for best results, with visible improvements building over time.

FAQs

  1. Will acne scar and scarring treatment completely remove my scars?
While we can’t promise to remove scars 100%, most clients see a significant improvement in the depth, colour, and visibility of their scars.
  2. How many treatments will I need?
This depends on the type and severity of your scarring. Most clients need between 3 and 6 sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart, to achieve noticeable, long lasting results. We will guide you through a treatment plan during your initial consultation
  3. Can I do this treatment if I still have active acne?
If you have ongoing breakouts, we may need to address the acne first. Treating active acne before starting scar treatments helps avoid worsening inflammation or causing new scars. We’ll create a personalised plan so you can work through both stages safely.
  4. Does acne scar treatment and scarring treatment hurt?
Most treatments are very manageable. You might feel slight discomfort, like a warm or tingling sensation during a peel, or a prickly feeling during skin needling. We can use a numbing cream if needed to keep you comfortable.
  5. What’s the downtime like?
You might experience mild redness, flaking, or tightness for a few days, depending on the treatment. There’s usually minimal downtime (24- 48 hours), avoiding sun exposure, sweating, and active skincare for a couple of days. We will give you detailed aftercare instructions to help your skin recover appropriately.
